Job Summary


JOB DESCRIPTION

The Evening Resource Navigator is a full-time position which functions in the front-line coordination and management of supportive services and resource navigation for guests of Nashville Launch Pad’s Mobile Housing Navigation Center for 18-24 year olds experiencing homelessness in Davidson County and the surrounding areas. The Resource Navigator should be aligned with the mission and core values of NLP. The shift occurs from 3:00pm-11:00pm Monday through Friday in the Donelson area of Nashville. The Evening Resource Navigator works primarily in the Mobile Housing Navigation Center but may be asked to assist in our other programs.

The Resource Navigator will be present in the Mobile Housing Navigation Center to support our guests and to maintain our facility. Supporting guests includes providing a supportive presence to guests and may include helping guests to travel within the city limits to obtain resources. Maintaining our facility includes completing light chores, assisting guests to complete chores, supervising tasks delegated to other staff and carrying out room and facility inspections. These duties may vary as plans proceed to expand our services to more guests.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS

Mobile Housing Navigation Center – Single grant funded, this 24/7 year-round program offers staffed transitional housing and resource navigation for up to 12 young adults, ages 18-24. Must be experiencing literal homelessness and referred from the city’s Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS).

Emergency Shelter – Seasonal overnight program operating November 1 through April 1 each year. Capacity of about 20 young adults each night, ages 18-26, in partnership with local churches. Hot meal, shower, mattress, linens, first aid, and additional supplies provided.

Independent Supported Living Program – Transitional housing for ages 18-26. Up to three guests share a 3 bedroom apartment, free of charge for up to 6 months while working to stabilize and establish permanent housing. Highly independent program requiring residents to live in a self-sufficient manner providing their own food, transportation, and case management


Job Responsibilities

Guest Services

  • Welcome and orient guests into the mobile housing community
  • Connect guests with outside agencies
  • Prepare Homelessness Verification letters as needed
  • Provide guidance and referrals and assist guests with expressed needs

Records, Meetings, & Administration

  • Maintain and prepare annual statistics of services provided
  • Enter and maintain guest’s records in HMIS and our SalesForce database
  • Assist with other staff tasks as needed including engagement with volunteers and supporters, contributions to social media content, and a spirit of teamwork, and collaboration
  • Attend internal and external meetings as established, including, but not limited to, Staff meetings, Guest meetings, and Nashville-Davidson Continuum of Care

Resource Navigation

  • Network resources creatively to open up opportunities for housing and critical services
  • Coordinate services and advocate for residents with other agencies/service providers
  • Make contact and build relationships with people experiencing homelessness while providing resources, referrals, and support
  • Navigate complex social services with people so they can obtain resources like identification documents, healthcare, food assistance, transportation, housing, and other necessary services and supplies
  • Navigate people moving from encampments into permanent housing utilizing the Coordinated Entry System through HMIS

Program Coordination & Support

  • Work with staff from Launch Pad, Oasis, Office of Homeless Service and other public agencies and departments to help move clients to different stages of help.
  • Work with the Program Director and other staff to coordinate the Mobile Housing Navigation Center program by identifying, enrolling, and supporting guests through resource and housing navigation
  • Participate in some community outreach to engage potential residents

Other duties as assigned to fulfill the mission

Qualifications

  • Experience working with vulnerable populations
  • Familiarity with homelessness and social service systems is a plus
  • Familiarity with HMIS and Housing Navigation is a plus
  • LGBTQ+ individuals and those with lived experience are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
